LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — A Maine couple have proved that true love knows no age limits.
Eighty-eight-year-old Paul Walker married his longtime sweetheart, 87-year-old Ann Thayer, in a Lewiston rehabilitation center Tuesday in front of a small group of family and friends.
The couple met at church and had dated 17 years. They decided to tie the knot after some gentle teasing from the staff at a hospital last week.
Thayer visits Walker every day at the Marshwood Center, where he is rehabilitating. She says she has had some "beautiful years" with him.
Both have been married before.
Center administrator Sheri Nadell tells the Sun Journal newspaper (http://bit.ly/rXCh4I) it was the facility's first wedding.
Thayer says they have been talking about a honeymoon in Bermuda once Walker feels better.
