Haitian man, culpable  of bank fraud

HARTFORD, Conn. - A Haitian citizen has pleaded guilty to federal bank fraud charges involving stolen checks at the Navy Federal Credit Union in Groton. A federal prosecutor says 43-year-old Jean Andre Aine, who has been living in Brooklyn, N.Y., Tuesday pleaded guilty to a single count of bank fraud.

Authorities say Aine took part in a scheme that involved cashing stolen federal tax refund checks at the Navy Federal Credit Union.

The prosecutor says Aine convinced others to cash federal tax refund checks.

Aine faces up to 30 years in prison when he's sentenced in February.
