Fatal rollover accident in Attleboro terminates Boston's section of Mattapan Haitian-American man's life
Massachusetts (August 9, 2011) According to the Massachusetts State Police a Mattapan man was killed on Interstate 95 south after his vehicle overturned and struck a guardrail. The accident occurred around 1 a.m. between Exits 2 and 3 in Attleboro. The driver, Jean Charles, was traveling south on I-95 in 1997 Honda Accord when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
The vehicle came to rest upside down on top of the left metal guardrail, trapping the man in the vehicle. It took close to an hour for rescue crews to cut the Charles, out of the Honda. Due to the weather a medical helicopter was unable to fly and the victim was transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital. The 34 year-old Jean Charles, was late pronounced dead at the hospital from his injuries.
Authorities shut down two lanes of I-95 as Massachusetts State Police investigated crash and the debris was cleared. The State Police are still investigating the cause of the fatal accident.
