Black Americans: Once Race, or More?

The Pew Research Center released a nationwide survey last week on racial attitudes. More than a third of black respondents said that blacks no longer can be thought of as a single race because their community is so diverse. The results could reflect diverging social values and economic fortunes among blacks.
